What's it all about?

And so it was... a thought.

How about being happy for a day - all day. Not such a big deal? Or is it?

Life can be pretty challenging at the best of times and sometimes to be happy can seem like such an effort. But what if we all made the effort on the same day? We all tried to be happy, just made the effort for one day? It surely can't cost anything if you didn't want it to? A little smile here, a nice Tweet there, a positive comment on your Facebook status?

I wonder....

We spend quite a lot of time moaning or being down. It’s understandable, life is challenging for most of us. But this can affect not only our physical state but that of our family and friends, too. Research has proven that being mindful and feeling positive can actually have physical benefits.

So why not spend one day every month making a conscious effort to think positively? It costs absolutely nothing!

Throughout your day - at work and at home, updating your social networks, blogs, email signatures, scribbling in the dirt on the back of your car, anything – do it with positive thoughts.

You could be eating your favourite food or spending time with your best friend. So Tweet about it. Update your Facebook status to say how you are looking forward to getting those dream shoes or starting your ideal job later.

You could just spend the day appreciating all the things you have that money can't buy. Great family relationships, healthy children, the gift of sight, simple things like sunshine, a great view, fresh air.

Celebrate the life of a loved one who is no longer with us and how you benefited from knowing them. Anything! Just be positive and grateful for what you have right now, not what you feel you missed, not dwelling on what you don't have, not being regretful for what might have been.

But don't worry if you forget or find life a little hard sometimes. We can always try and we can support others too.

You could do it any day, every day if you like, but make it a community event and share it with all your friends and colleagues either with you or all over the world on the following suggested days:

Sunday 1st January
Thursday 2nd February
Saturday 3rd March
Wednesday 4th April
Saturday 5th May
Wednesday 6th June
Saturday 7th July
Wednesday 8th August
Sunday 9th September
Wednesday 10th October
Sunday 11th November
Wednesday 12th December

Please share this idea with all your family, friends, colleagues, address book contacts and upload your positive thoughts for one day a month.
